a typical school day

Our buses arrive between 7:45AM and 8:00AM and our students begin their day with breakfast starting at 7:45. Instruction begins at 8:15AM.

Morning classes are devoted to core subjects - language arts and mathematics. If there is a single item that separates our school from any other it is our singular focus on the basics. Our children know how to read and write and to add and subtract. Without mastering these foundations, our students will never achieve their potential.

Classes after lunch expand to other studies - science, social studies and student enrichment. Continuing with the close personal attention that comes with our 15/1 student teacher ratio, our faculty work in small groups, and often one-on-one, to insure all of our students are reaching their highest potential.

There are two recesses every day, always outdoors (weather permitting), and the students have a chance to utilize our wide-open eight-acre campus, and our two playgrounds. Safely positioned between Euclid and Kingshighway, our expansive fields, so unique to an urban campus, offer opportunities for both organized and free play, and our PE staff, faculty, and aides participate in all the activities.

Every student participates in three PE sessions per week. Running, jumping, and ball skills are emphasized, but so too are physical activities that our new to our students - orienteering, swimming, rock climbing, and yoga are recent examples.

Our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade classes are dismissed at 3:30PM. Our Second and Third Grades have extended days and continue their classwork until 5:00PM.

For those families with Kindergarten and First grade students, we do offer our own After-School program, which runs from 3:30PM-5:30PM. Taught and monitored by a regular faculty member, these sessions include a homework period, a planned activity, a recess and a snack
